Brexit

Kaleidoscope –

Perhaps the biggest change to 2021 will be Brexit – whether you were a remainer or voted to leave, there will be no escaping the impact Brexit will have on the world of interiors.

From changes to the supply chain and amendments to how you work with European countries to the impact Brexit may have on sourcing and how we can back British, Brexit will prove an interesting time for design studios, no doubt causing a knock-on-effect for clients and consumers.

We Will See..

  • A move towards backing British – now is the time to support our makers and manufacturers and shop small. We recommend The New Craftsman which showcases a plethora of British craftspeople who design exquisite pieces for the home; from willow baskets to clay ceramics, you’re bound to discover something extraordinary.
  • A new process of procurement for design studios; redefining how business is conducted and adjusting to new legislations.
  • A continuation of travel to Europe – just because we’re no-longer part of it doesn’t mean we can’t continue to travel and indulge in its history, artisans and beauty we have come to love. Just make sure you know the new legislation regarding importing goods back to the UK!
  • Embrace the new normal and enjoy discovering new and old, forgotten brands
  • A resurgence of shopping British brands in person – Pimlico Road in London showcases some of the most celebrated brands for interior design and it’s always best to experience these places in person. Don’t forget your local high street too – local businesses always come up trumps. Our recommendations are Tinsmiths in Ledbury, Refound in Northumberland and Scout in Norfolk
